Danville is an unincorporated community in Morgan County, Alabama in the United States, and is included in the Decatur Metropolitan Area and the larger Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. A noteworthy Danville native, David Donald Albritton became the first African-American to hold the World High Jump record at 6'9-3/4" set at the Olympic Trials on Randall's Island in the East River between Queens and Manhattan. His jump on July 11, 1936 was 6-3/4" above his height of 6'3".
