Mentone is a town in DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2009 census the population was 486. Mentone has the highest elevation of any incorporated town in Alabama, narrowly over Hytop. Mentone is home to many private summer camps, including Camp Desoto for girls, Camp Riverview for girls, Camp Laney for boys, Alpine Camp for boys, Camp Skyline Ranch for girls, Lookout Mountain Camp for boys, and others.

DeSoto Falls (Alabama)

DeSoto Falls is a 104-foot waterfall located on the West Fork of the Little River near Mentone, Alabama. The falls have carved their own small canyon. They are named after Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto.

Camp DeSoto

Camp DeSoto is a Christian summer camp for female campers ages 8-16. It is located on Lookout Mountain in Mentone, Alabama. Activities include horse riding, archery, aerobics, canoeing, photography, etc. See Activities page. Camp Desoto holds two four-week sessions each summer, each at a cost of $3800. Girls at Desoto are assigned to tribes (Cherokee, Creek, or Chickasaw), which compete against one another in athletic, drama, and singing competitions.

The Old Union Crossing Covered Bridge is a privately owned wood & metal combination style covered bridge that spans the West Fork of the Little River in DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. It is located on an access road between Shady Grove Dude Ranch and Cloudmont Ski & Golf Resort on Lookout Mountain, which is off County Road 614 near the town of Mentone.
