The Arkansas Post National Memorial is located southeast of the town. The largest alligator ever killed in Arkansas was harpooned near Gillett on September 19, 2010. DeWitt High School is a comprehensive public high school located in the rural, fringe community of De Witt, Arkansas, United States. The school provides secondary education for students in grades 9 through 12. Since 2008 as a result of consolidation, the school has served the communities of DeWitt, Gillett, Humphrey and nearby unincorporated communities. DeWitt is one of two public high schools in Arkansas County, Arkansas and the sole high school administered by the DeWitt School District.
