Rice Belt

The Rice Belt of the United States includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, four southern U.S. states that grow a significant portion of the nation's rice crop. The name is in conformity with the Corn Belt of the Midwest, in which much of the nation's corn is grown. Arkansas is the nation's leading rice producer, followed by California (not part of the Rice Belt), Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Missouri (bordering on, but not part of, the Rice Belt).

Yancopin Bridge

The Yancopin Bridge is an abandoned railroad trestle spanning the Arkansas River, and the last bridge across the Arkansas River before it flows into the Mississippi River 15 miles south-east. The Yancopin Bridge is an all-metal truss bridge, with one lift span and one swing span, and wooden trestles at both ends. Bridge construction was completed in 1903, and carried rail traffic first for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad, and then for the Union Pacific Corporation.

Rosedale, Mississippi

Rosedale is a city in Bolivar County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,414 at the 2000 census. It is the same "Rosedale" that bluesman Robert Johnson referenced in his song "Traveling Riverside Blues. " Locals claim that Johnson sold his soul to the Devil at the intersection of Mississippi state highways 1 and 8, on the south end of town, and that he tells this story metaphorically in "Cross Road Blues".
