Salinas Valley State Prison

Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) is a 300-acre Californian state prison located 5 miles north of Soledad, in Monterey County, California. The prison consists of five yards: A, B, C, D, and E. Of the five, C is the most violent. The surrounding housing units hold level-4 and level-3 inmates, the two highest security rankings. E yard is a level-1 yard which houses, approximately, 200 inmates.

Rancho San Vicente (Munras)

Rancho San Vicente was a 19,979-acre Mexican land grant in the Salinas Valley, in present day Monterey County, California. The four square league grant consisted of two square leagues in 1835 by Governor José Castro to Esteban Munras, and two square leagues granted in 1842 by Governor Juan Alvarado. The grant extended along the east bank of the Salinas River and encompassed present day Soledad.

Soledad High School

Soledad High School is a high school in Soledad, California in Monterey County. Soledad High School is home of the Aztecs. The school was founded in 1999 and serves grades 9 through 12. Currently the school has approximately 1,065 students. The school has been opened since 1999, and has had five principals, going on six within the next school year.

Rancho Ex-Mission Soledad

Rancho Ex-Mission Soledad was a 8,900-acre Mexican land grant in present day Monterey County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Feliciano Soberanes. The grant derives its name from the secularized Mission Soledad, but was called ex-Mission because of a division made of the lands held in the name of the Mission — the church retaining the grounds immediately around, and all of the lands outside of this are called ex-Mission lands.
