Point Arena, California

Point Arena (formerly, Punta Arenas and Puntas Arenas) is a small coastal city in Mendocino County, California, United States. Point Arena is located 31 miles west of Hopland, at an elevation of 118 feet . The population was 449 at the 2010 census, down from 474 at the 2000 census, making it one of the smallest incorporated cities in the state. Its main street comprises part of State Route 1, California's coastal artery.

The Manchester Band of Pomo Indians of the Manchester Rancheria, formerly named the 'Manchester Band of Pomo Indians of the Manchester-Point Arena Rancheria is a federally recognized tribe of Pomo Indians in California. The tribe's reservation is the Manchester-Point Arena Rancheria, situated near the towns of Manchester and Point Arena in Mendocino County, California. The reservation is 364 acres large. The tribe is a community of Pomo Indians who are native to northern California.

Point Arena Air Force Station

Point Air Force Station is a closed United States Air Force General Surveillance Radar station. It is located 3.7 miles east of Point Arena, California. It was closed in 1998 by the Air Force, and turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Today the site is part of the Joint Surveillance System (JSS), designated by NORAD as Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) Ground Equipment Facility J-34.

The marine protected area covers 0.22 square miles. Sea Lion Cove SMCA prohibits the commercial and recreational take of invertebrates, algae and other plants, but allows the take of all other species.
