The Fort Tejon earthquake occurred at about 8:20 am on January 9, 1857 in central and Southern California with an estimated moment magnitude of 7.9. It ruptured the southern part of the San Andreas Fault for a length of about 225 miles (350 kilometers), between Parkfield and Wrightwood.

California Valley Airport is a privately owned restricted-use airport located adjacent to the community center of California Valley, in the sparsely populated Carrizo Plain of San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. Although the runway's south end is marked with a white "X" indicating that it is closed to use, the surface is in fair to good condition and is used occasionally with prior permission. Rancho Arroyo Grande

Rancho Arroyo Grande was a 4,437-acre Mexican land grant in present day San Luis Obispo County, California given in 1842 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Zeferino Carlón. The grant extended along Arroyo Grande Creek east of present day Arroyo Grande. Much of the grant is now covered by Lopez Lake.
