Golden Fleece Tunnel (California)

The Golden Fleece Tunnel, is a gold mining site in the Westville gold mining district in Placer County, California. The mine is located 2 miles northeast of the former mining town Westville, California, north to the Foresthill Divide Road. It has a 3,000 ft tunnel and was operated successfully by the Golden Fleece Mining and Milling Company (New York). The mine is no longer in operation. Other nearby mines are the Hogsback Tunnel and the Union Tunnel.

Placer County is a county located in both the Sacramento Valley and Sierra Nevada regions of the U.S. state of California, in what is known as the Gold Country. It stretches from the suburbs of Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and the Nevada border. Because of the expansion of the Greater Sacramento, Placer County is one of the fastest growing counties in California. Between 2000 and 2010, the population grew from 248,399 to 348,432. The county seat is Auburn.
