Monroeville, California

Monroeville (also, Munroeville), named for its founder U. P. Monroe, was the county seat of Colusa County from 1851 to 1853. It was located 15 miles north of Butte City, near the mouth of Stony Creek in northeastern Glenn County, at an elevation of 128 feet (39 m). The people of the community of Colusa fought for and eventually won the right to become the County Seat in 1853. A post office operated at Monroeville from 1853 to 1862.

For road traffic, Ord Bend is along State Route 45 between Glenn and Hamilton City. It's about eight miles (13 km) south of Hamilton City. The ZIP Code, shared with Glenn and Bayliss, is 95943. The community is inside area code 530. This area is flagged as rural by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Sacramento River passes east of the area.

Big Chico Creek

Big Chico Creek originates on Colby Mountain, located in Tehama County, California. The creek flows 46 miles to its confluence with the Sacramento River in Butte County. The creek's elevation ranges from 120 feet above sea level at the Sacramento River to 6,000 feet at Colby Mountain, as shown on the Ord Ferry USGS quadrangle. A portion of Big Chico Creek flows through the city of Chico's Bidwell Park and California State University, Chico.

Hamilton Union High School

Hamilton Union High School is a public high school located at 620 Canal Street in Hamilton City, California. It serves grades nine through twelve. Until recently, it was the only school in its district (Hamilton Union High School District). The Hamilton High and Hamilton Elementary Districts unified to the new Hamilton Unified School District on July 1, 2009 with Capay Elementary School remaining as an independent feeder school district.
