This article is about the theme park. For the former mining town and current ghost town of same name, see Buckskin Joe, Colorado Buckskin Joe was a Western-style theme park and railway 8 miles west of Cañon City, Colorado, USA. It was located 1 mile south of U.S. Route 50 along the road to the Royal Gorge Bridge. Features of the park included gun fights, 30 authentic buildings from the Colorado 19th century frontier, themed entertainment, full service saloon and restaurant.

Fremont County, Colorado

Fremont County is the 16th most populous of the 64 counties of the state of Colorado of the United States. The county is named for explorer and presidential candidate John C. Frémont. The county population was 46,824 at the 2010 census. The county seat is Cañon City. The Cañon City Micropolitan Statistical Area comprises Fremont County. Fremont County is also home to 15 prisons.

Royal Gorge

The Royal Gorge (also Grand Canyon of the Arkansas) is a canyon on the Arkansas River near Cañon City, Colorado. With a width of 50 feet (15 m) at its base and a few hundred feet at its top, and a depth of 1,250 feet (380 m) in places, the 10-mile-long canyon is a narrow, steep gorge through the granite of Fremont Peak. It is one of the deepest canyons in Colorado.

Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility

Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility (CTCF), colloquially known simply as "Territorial," is a medium security prison in Canon City, Colorado. CTCF is the oldest prison in the Colorado DOC system. It was built in 1871 as a territorial prison and became a state prison in 1876. The Colorado DOC system only has two infirmaries, one of which is located in CTCF. The other is located in the Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center (DRDC).

Cañon City Municipal Building

The Cañon City Municipal Building is the current home of the Royal Gorge Regional Museum and History Center. It was originally built as a government building for the city of Cañon City, Colorado. A new City Hall building was built to allow more room for city offices and a larger city council meeting room leaving the vacated space available to an expansion of the museum and the relocation of the History Center from the Cañon City Public Library's basement to the Municipal Building.
