Lake County, Colorado
Lake County is one of the 64 counties of the State of Colorado of the United States. The highest natural point in Colorado and the entire Rocky Mountains is the summit of Mount Elbert in Lake County at 14,440 feet (4401.2 meters) elevation. The county population was 7,812 at U.S. Census 2000. The county seat and the only municipality in the county is the City of Leadville. Oro City, Colorado
Oro City, now a ghost town, was an early Colorado gold placer mining town located near Leadville in the California Gulch. Oro is the Spanish word for gold. Oro City was the site of the single richest placer gold strike in the entire Pikes Peak rush. In just seven years ten tons of gold were mined from California Gulch.
