Kayak for a Cause

Kayak for a Cause is a non-profit kayaking fundraiser that takes place annually on Long Island Sound on the eastern coast of the United States. A group of several-hundred kayakers cross the Sound from Norwalk, Connecticut to the north shore of Long Island and return as they raise money for local and national charities. The current route for the crossing is 12.5 miles long and leaves from Calf Pasture Beach in East Norwalk, Connecticut and lands in Crab Meadow Park in Northport, New York.

Washington Village (Norwalk, Connecticut)

Washington Village, is a 136 unit public housing complex in the South Norwalk neighborhood of Norwalk, Connecticut in the block bound by Water Street, Raymond Street, Day Street, and Concord Street. It is the oldest public housing development in Connecticut, occupied since 1941. It was designed by Frank Bissell, an architect who had moved to Norwalk after having worked in the New York offices of Barber and Bissell.

South Norwalk

South Norwalk (known also as SoNo or Downtown) is a neighborhood in Norwalk, Connecticut. The neighborhood was originally a settlement called Old Well and was incorporated as the city of South Norwalk on August 18, 1870. The cities of Norwalk and South Norwalk were consolidated on June 6, 1913. The former city of South Norwalk became the new Norwalk's Second Taxing District. SoNo features a high density of bars and eateries and is the center of Norwalk's nightlife and restaurant culture.

South Norwalk (Metro-North station)

The South Norwalk Metro-North Railroad station is owned and managed by the Norwalk Parking Authority and is one of three stations serving the residents of Norwalk, Connecticut via the New Haven Line and is the more significant of the three. Nicknamed "SoNo" by riders and staff, the station is the point where the Danbury Branch connects to the Northeast Corridor as well as a peak-hour terminal for some express trains.
