Ivoryton
Ivoryton is a small village in the town of Essex in the state of Connecticut in the United States. It was known for its production of pianos in the early 20th century and takes its name from the ivory industry that imported tusks. In the beginning combs, buttons, toothpicks, billiard balls, and other items were made in Ivoryton. Later they moved toward piano keys and eventually also made piano movements. There is not a single town, city, or place named Ivoryton anywhere else in the world.

Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge
The Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge is a 950-acre National Wildlife Refuge in ten units across the U.S. state of Connecticut. Located in the Atlantic Flyway, the refuge spans 70 miles of Connecticut coastline and provides important resting, feeding, and nesting habitat for many species of wading birds, shorebirds, songbirds and terns, including the endangered roseate tern. Adjacent waters serve as wintering habitat for brant, scoters, American black duck, and other waterfowl.

Westbrook (Shore Line East station)
Westbrook is a passenger rail station along the Shore Line East commuter rail line, which runs on the Northeast Corridor between New Haven and New London. Westbrook station consists of a small parking lot and one side platform on the southbound side of the tracks. A new station with a larger lot and two platforms is under construction; it is scheduled to open in 2013. The larger lot will allow the station, which is less than half a mile from I-95 and US-1, to serve as a park-and-ride station.

Centerbrook
Centerbrook is a hamlet located in the town of Essex, Connecticut. The village is home to numerous businesses, the Essex Steam Train, a post office, and Essex Elementary School. It has many houses but it is generally considered the more commercial part of Essex. The village consists of the area immediately west of the Route 9 expressway, extending southwest along Route 153 to Tiffany Brook, west along Main Street to Earl Street, and north along Route 154 to Route 9.
