Chatham County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The county seat and largest city is Savannah. The U.S. Census Bureau's 2011 population estimate was 271,544 residents. (The 2010 census reported a total population of 265,128, a 14.3 percent increase over the 2000 figure of 232,048. ) Chatham is the most populous Georgia county outside the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Pin Point, Georgia

Pin Point is an unincorporated community in Chatham County, Georgia, in the United States; it is located 18 km southeast of Savannah, Georgia. Pin Point is part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is best known as the birthplace of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on 23 June 1948. A rural settlement founded by freed slaves after the American Civil War, Pin Point is 1.6 km wide and 2.5 km long.

Vernonburg, Georgia

Vernonburg is a town in Chatham County, Georgia, about 10 miles south of downtown Savannah. It is located at a sharp curve along the Vernon River, a tidal creek. The population was 122 at the 2010 census. Vernonburg was first settled by German craftsmen in the mid-18th century (hence the German suffix -burg), and was incorporated in 1748. By the early 19th century, the town was becoming a summer community for wealthy Savannahians.

Beaulieu, Georgia

Beaulieu is an unincorporated village located about 12 miles south of downtown Savannah, Georgia, USA. Beaulieu began in the nineteenth century as a summer resort for well-heeled Savannahians. A few old homes remain, but most current structures are more modern. The village still retains a Deep South atmosphere, with big live oaks covered with Spanish moss. The primary access road to Beaulieu is Beaulieu Avenue, which runs for approximately 1.1 miles from Whitfield Avenue to Shipyard Road.
