Oconee River

The Oconee River is a 220-mile-long river which has its origin in Hall County, Georgia, and terminates where it joins the Ocmulgee River to form the Altamaha River near Lumber City at the borders of Montgomery County, Wheeler County, and Jeff Davis County. South of Athens, two forks, known as the North Oconee River and Middle Oconee River, converge to form the Oconee River. Milledgeville, the former capital city of Georgia, lies on the Oconee River.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is a botanical garden in the United States, with a conservatory operated by the University of Georgia. It is located at 2450 South Milledge Avenue, Athens, Georgia. Turner Soccer Complex

Turner Soccer Complex is a 1,700-capacity stadium located in Athens, Georgia. It is primarily used for soccer and serves as the home field for the Georgia Bulldogs women's soccer team. The complex is named for Hoyt "Jack" Turner, an Athens native who has financially supported Bulldogs soccer and other athletic endeavors for several years. The stadium opened on September 1, 1998. Turner Soccer Complex hosted the 2000 Southeastern Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament.

WUGA (FM)

WUGA is the Georgia Public Broadcasting public radio station serving Athens and much of the northeast part of Georgia. It is a member of Georgia Public Broadcasting's radio network, but is operated by the University of Georgia, with studios located at the Center for Continuing Education on the UGA campus. The transmitter is located east-southeast of Athens.
