Satilla River
The Satilla River rises in Ben Hill County, Georgia, near the town of Fitzgerald, and flows in a mostly easterly direction to the Atlantic Ocean. Along its approximately 235-mile course are the cities of Waycross, Waynesville, and Woodbine. The Satilla drains almost 4,000 square miles of land, all of it in the coastal plain of southeastern Georgia. It has white sandbars and is the largest blackwater river situated entirely within Georgia.

Thiokol-Woodbine Explosion
The Thiokol-Woodbine Explosion occurred at 10:53 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, February 3, 1971, at the Thiokol chemical plant, 12 miles southeast of Woodbine, Georgia, and 30 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida, when large quantities of flares and their components in building M-132 were ignited by a fire and detonation occurred.

Indian Mound Cottage
Indian Mound Cottage was owned by oil executive William Rockefeller. It was built in 1892, stands three stories high, and has a total of 25 rooms. There are 9 bedrooms 9 bathrooms, and 7 servant rooms. Indian Mound has many distinguishing features such as an elevator, a cedar lined walk-in safe, taps for hot and cold salt water on the bathtub in the master bedroom bath, and a mound in the front yard which is how the cottage got its nickname "Indian Mound".
