New Savannah, Georgia

The dead town of New Savannah, Georgia began about 1740 as a Chickasaw village on the Savannah River, at the mouth of Butler Creek below Augusta. Stories as to the circumstances vary, but in any case some portion of the Horse Creek Chickasaws under Squirrel King moved across the river and founded the town from which they farmed, hunted and scouted until the Revolutionary War. In 1757, CPT Daniel Pepper estimated the population there as "seventy Gun Men" .

Augusta Regional Airport

Augusta Regional Airport, also known as Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field, is a city-owned, public-use airport located six nautical miles (11 km) south of the central business district of Augusta, a city in Richmond County, Georgia, United States. In 2000, Bush Field airport changed its name to Augusta Regional Airport. The airport opened a brand new passenger terminal in December 2007, and renovated the entire property for ease of use and convenience, which was designed by the LPA Group.

Silver Bluff Baptist Church

The Silver Bluff Baptist Church in Aiken County, South Carolina, was founded by several enslaved African Americans who organized under elder David George in 1773-1775. The historian Albert Raboteau has identified it as the first separate black congregation in the nation, although others contend for that distinction. After the British occupied Savannah in 1778 during the American Revolutionary War, George and his congregation of 30 slaves went to the city for freedom behind their lines.

WAFJ is a Christian contemporary radio station serving the Augusta, Georgia-Aiken, South Carolina, area owned by Radio Training Network (RTN). WAFJ was mostly a simulcast of WLFJ Greenville, South Carolina at the beginning but has since become an independent station of the Radio Training Network. The station is listener supported and depends on contributions for operating funding, it does not sell paid advertising.
