Puʻunene, Hawaii

Puʻunēnē is an unincorporated town in the central part of Maui, Hawaii, near Kahului. Although the land in that area is fairly level, the words Puʻu nēnē mean "nene goose hill" in Hawaiian. With a population of around 50, Puʻunēnē's primary industry is growing, harvesting and processing sugar cane.

Kahului Airport

Kahului Airport is a regional airport in the state of Hawai'i, USA, located east of the Kahului CDP in Maui County on the island of Maui near Haleakala. Most flights into Kahului Airport originate from Honolulu International Airport; the Honolulu–Kahului corridor is one of the busiest air routes in the US, ranking 13th in 2004 with 1,632,000 passengers. (If "route" refers to a single pair of airports, HNL-OGG has been at or near the top of the US list for decades.

Kaʻahumanu

Elizabeth Kaʻahumanu (c. 1768 – June 5, 1832) ("the feathered mantle") was queen regent of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi and a wife of Kamehameha I. She was the king's favorite wife and also the most politically powerful, and continued to wield considerable power in the kingdom as the Kuhina Nui during the reigns of his first two successors.

Aloha Airlines Flight 243

Aloha Airlines Flight 243 (AQ 243, AAH 243) was a scheduled Aloha Airlines flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. On April 28, 1988, a Boeing 737-297 serving the flight suffered extensive damage after an explosive decompression in flight, but was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui. The only fatality was flight attendant Clarabelle "C.B. " Lansing, who was blown out of the airplane. Another 65 passengers and crew were injured.
