Gateway Geyser

The Gateway Geyser is a fountain located on the riverfront of the Mississippi River in the Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park in East St. Louis, Illinois, directly across from the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. The fountain is the world's second tallest, lifting water to a height of approximately 630 feet . It is second to King Fahd's Fountain in Saudi Arabia, which reaches 853 feet . The Gateway Geyser is a counterpart to the equally tall Arch on the Missouri riverbank.

Eads Bridge

The Eads Bridge is a combined road and railway bridge over the Mississippi River at St. Louis, connecting St. Louis and East St. Louis, Illinois. The bridge is named for its designer and builder, James B. Eads. When completed in 1874, the Eads Bridge was the longest arch bridge in the world, with an overall length of 6,442 feet (1,964 m).

Bloody Island (Mississippi River)

Bloody Island was a sandbar or "towhead" in the Mississippi River, opposite St. Louis, Missouri, which became densely wooded and a rendezvous for duelists because it was considered "neutral" and not under Missouri or Illinois control. Appearing first above water in 1798 its continuous growth menaced the harbor of St. Louis. In 1837 Capt. Robert E. Lee, of U.S.A.

Martin Luther King Bridge (St. Louis)

The Martin Luther King Bridge (formerly known as the Veterans Bridge) in St. Louis is a cantilever truss bridge of about 4,000 feet in total length across the Mississippi River, connecting St. Louis with East St. Louis, Illinois. The bridge serves as traffic relief connecting the concurrent freeways of Interstate 55, Interstate 70, Interstate 64, and U.S. Route 40 with the downtown streets of St. Louis.

Fair Saint Louis

Established in 1878 and reconstituted in 1981, the Veiled Profit Fair, nominally the Fair Saint Louis starting in 1992, is an annual festival held during the July 4 holiday in downtown St. Louis, Missouri at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Some call it "America's largest birthday party". The event showcases a variety of attractions, educational activities, a barbecue competition, stages featuring popular entertainers, and an enormous fireworks display held nightly.
