Goodenow is an unincorporated community near where the Calumet Expressway and Illinois Route 1 combine in Will County, Illinois, USA. It is in a semi-rural area with the closest town being Crete to the north and Beecher to the south. It is very wooded and contains many houses on wooded lots with a lot of land. The major industry was the now-closed Beecher Landfill which took in garbage from the Chicago metropolitan area.

Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve is a unit of the Forest Preserve District of Will County located in Crete Township in Will County, Illinois. The closest town is Crete, Illinois. The preserve covers 898 acres and contains 4 miles of trails and a man-made 40-foot hill which is a sledding hill in the winter. Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve contains mostly woods, but has some prairie. It is moderately hilly with one small pond. Plum Creek crosses the preserve.
