New Lenox Township is located in the heart Will County, Illinois on US Route 30 and Interstate 80. The population was 40,270 at the 2010 census. New Lenox Township has thirty-six square miles within its jurisdiction. It serves almost all of the Village of New Lenox and parts of the individual municipalities of Mokena, Homer Glen, Joliet and, of course, the entire unincorporated areas of the New Lenox community. New Lenox Township changed its name from Vernon Township on June 10, 1850.

The station is officially located on 300 North Church Street, and lies 34 miles away from LaSalle Street, the northern terminus of the line, however parking is available between Church Street and far northeast of Haven Avenue. It is also the penultimate station along the RID line before reaching the end of the line at Joliet Union Station.
