Dana, Indiana

Dana is a town in Helt Township, Vermillion County, Indiana, United States. The population was 608 at the 2010 census. It is primarily a farming community. Famed World War II war correspondent Ernie Pyle was born on a tenant farm near Dana. Bert Shepard, a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Washington Senators who had lost his leg in WWII, was also born in Dana.

Vermillion County, Indiana

Vermillion County lies in the western part of the U.S. state of Indiana between the Illinois border and the Wabash River. It was officially established in 1824 and was the fiftieth Indiana county to be formed. It is included in the Terre Haute, Indiana, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Newport. According to the 2010 census, the population was 16,212; It has a population density of about 65 inhabitants per square mile .
