Black River (Indiana)

The Black River is a 19.6-mile-long river with headwaters located just south of Owensville, Indiana. It flows southwest through southwestern Gibson County and northwestern Posey County under Interstate 64 between Poseyville and Griffin before emptying into the Wabash River just north of New Harmony.

New Harmony, Indiana

New Harmony, Indiana, is a historic town on the Wabash River in Harmony Township, Posey County, Indiana, United States. It lies 15 miles north of Mount Vernon, the county seat. The population was 789 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. Established by the Harmony Society in 1814, the town was originally known as Harmony (also called Harmonie, or New Harmony).

Griffin, Indiana

Griffin is a town in Bethel Township, Posey County, Indiana, United States, which was incorporated in 1881 and named after Samuel Griffin. The population was 172 at the 2010 census. The town was nearly destroyed by the Tri-State Tornado on March 18, 1925, killing 75 people. In 1972, a nearby outdoor rock concert Erie Canal Soda Pop Festival caused quite a stir in the town over the course of three days. Locally, the fest was called the Bull Island rock fest, based on the location of the festival.
