Birdseye, Indiana

Birdseye is a town in Jefferson Township, Dubois County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 415. It was platted in 1880. Popular tradition says the town was first known as Bird, after Rev. "Bird" Johnson, who was helping select a location for the first post office when he said "this spot suits Bird's eye". Birdseye is part of the Jasper Micropolitan Statistical Area.

St. Meinrad Archabbey

Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Spencer County, Indiana, USA, was founded by monks from Einsiedeln Abbey on March 21, 1854, and is home to approximately 98 monks. It is one of only two archabbeys in the United States and one of 11 in the world. The Benedictine community at Saint Meinrad consists of men who dedicate their lives to prayer and work. They gather in community five times a day—for morning prayer, Mass, noon prayer, evening prayer and compline—to pray for the Church and the world.
