The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth (USP Leavenworth) is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in Kansas. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. It also includes a satellite prison camp for minimum-security male offenders. USP Leavenworth is located 25 miles north of Kansas City, Kansas.

United States Disciplinary Barracks

The United States Disciplinary Barracks (or USDB, popularly known as Leavenworth, or the DB) is a military prison located on Fort Leavenworth, a United States Army post in Kansas. It is one of three major prisons built on Fort Leavenworth property, the others being the federal United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth, four miles (6 km) to the south, and the military Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility, which opened on 5 October 2010.

Fort Leavenworth is a United States Army facility located in Leavenworth County, Kansas, immediately north of the city of Leavenworth in the upper northeast portion of the state. It is the oldest active United States Army post west of Washington, D.C. , having been in operation for over 180 years. Fort Leavenworth has been historically known as the "Intellectual Center of the Army". Fort Leavenworth was also the origin of the Buffalo Soldiers who were originally members of the U.S.
