WMIK-FM

WMIK-FM is a radio station in Middlesboro, Kentucky along with its flagship station, WMIK-AM. At 92.7 MHz it broadcasts 24 hours a day. Originally owned by the Cumberland Gap Broadcasting Company, Incorporated, the station went on the air in 1971 only after years of trying to procure a license. In the early years the station played easy listening, and elevator music. The oldies format began in 1974 and the Oldies Channel continued until the station was sold 1992.

The Middlesboro crater is a meteorite crater in Kentucky, United States. It is named after the city of Middlesborough (both spellings are used), which today occupies much of the crater. The crater is approximately 3 miles (about 5 km) in diameter and its age is estimated to be less than 300 million years.

Middlesboro, also spelled Middlesborough, is a city in Bell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 10,334 at the 2010 census. The entire micropolitan area has a population of 69,060 (as of 2010) which includes all of Bell County. It is the principal city of the Middlesborough, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. Middlesboro is the largest city in Southeast Kentucky. The city was incorporated in 1890 as "Middlesborough", named after the town of Middlesbrough, England. The U.S.

WMIK (AM)

WMIK in Middlesboro, Kentucky, operates on an assigned frequency of 560 KHz with a daytime power of 2500 watts. Pre-sunrise and nighttime power are 500 watts and 88 watts respectively. The landmark radio studio is on the 19th Street Extension and Highway 441. The transmitting tower is situated one mile to the Northeast. WMIK signed on for the first time on Sunday, November 14, 1948, at 2pm. WMIK is one of Kentucky's oldest radio stations.
