The unincorporated town of Dryhill, (37.1546° North, 83.4157° West), is the proper name of Hell for Certain, located seven miles north of the small town of Hyden. Dryhill became known by this name because it is located near Hell for Certain Creek.

Clay was a member of the Virginia and Kentucky State legislatures, first cousin once removed of Henry Clay, U.S. Senator from Kentucky and Secretary of State in the 19th century. Its county seat is Manchester.

Leslie County, founded in 1878, and named for Preston H. Leslie, Governor of Kentucky (1871-1875), is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of 2010, the population was 11,310. Its county seat is Hyden. Leslie is a prohibition or dry county.

Hyden, Kentucky

Hyden is a city in Leslie County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 365 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Leslie County. It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 421 and Kentucky Route 80, along the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River. The area was first settled around 1817 by the John Sizemore family of North Carolina. The town was established in 1878 and incorporated in 1882, and was named after John Hyden, a state senator of the time who helped form Leslie County.
