The county is named for President Zachary Taylor, who served from 1849 to 1850. Taylor is a moist county in that selected restaurants can serve alcoholic beverages. The Campbellsville Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Taylor County. It is represented in the Kentucky House of Representatives by the Republican John "Bam" Carney, an educator.
