Lafayette Regional Airport is a public use airport located two nautical miles (4 km) southeast of the central business district of Lafayette, a city in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is owned by the City & Parish of Lafayette. The airport is located adjacent to U.S. Highway 90 on the east side of the city in proximity to a population center that is close to the offshore oil and gas activity in the nearby Gulf of Mexico.

Battle of Vermillion Bayou

The Battle of Vermillion Bayou was fought on April 17, 1863, the third battle in a series of running battles between Union Major General Nathaniel Prentice Banks and Confederate Major General Richard Taylor. The battle was fought after both the Battle of Fort Bisland and the Battle of Irish Bend.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, or UL Lafayette, is a coeducational, public, research university located in Lafayette, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It has the largest enrollment within the nine-campus University of Louisiana System and has the second largest enrollment in Louisiana. Founded in 1898 as an industrial school, the institution developed into a four-year university during the twentieth century and became known by its present name in 1999.

Cypress Lake (Lafayette, Louisiana)

Cypress Lake is a 2-acre swamp-like lake in the heart of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus that started as a buffalo wallow. Today it is a unique university landmark that is a habitat for native irises, alligators, turtles, birds and fish, as well as a hangout for students and a point of interest for tourists visiting Lafayette, Louisiana. Cypress Lake is casually called "The Swamp," which is also the nickname of the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns stadium, named Cajun Field.
