Cameron Parish (French: Paroisse de Cameron) is the parish with the most land area in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Cameron and as of 2010, the population was 6,839. It is part of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cameron Parish is part of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Lake Charles–Jennings Combined Statistical Area.

Gerstner Field

Gerstner Field is a former World War I military airfield, located 11.1 miles southeast of Lake Charles, Louisiana. It operated as a training field for the Air Service, United States Army between 1917 until 1919. The airfield was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established in 1917 after the United States entry into World War I. The base was named for Lieutenant Fredrick J. Gerstner (1891-1914), who died in an airplane crash, 31 December 1914.

Calcasieu Lake

Calcasieu Lake is a brackish lake located in southwest Louisiana, United States, located mostly within Cameron Parish. The lake is paralleled on its west shore by Louisiana Highway 27 and is located about 17 miles (27.35 km) south of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Lake is also known as Big Lake to the local population. Big Lake is well known amongst Gulf Coast anglers as a destination for large amounts of red drum and spotted sea trout as well as flounder and brown and white shrimp.
