Plaquemine is the birthplace of radio talk show host Moon Griffon, who broadcasts statewide from Monroe. Griffon is sometimes known as the "Cajun Rush Limbaugh". The town is also home to former Democratic Lieutenant Governor Robert "Bobby" Freeman.
