Bunkie, Louisiana

Bunkie is a city in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 4,662 at the 2000 census. Bunkie is the birthplace of jazz drummer Zutty Singleton. Sue Eakin, Louisiana historian and former publisher of the Bunkie Record, resided in Bunkie for most of her life until her death in 2009 at the age of ninety. Her works include Avoyelles Parish: Crossroads of Louisiana.

KEZP (104.3 FM, "104.3 The Truth") is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. The station is licensed to Bunkie, Louisiana and serves the Alexandria area. The station is currently owned by Opus Broadcasting Alexandria, LLC. The station previously aired an oldies music format before moving to a classic hits format in 2003 (as "104.3 The Tiger"), then to classic rock in 2005 and alternative rock (as "Red 104-3") on August 4, 2008.

Lecompte, Louisiana

Lecompte (pronounced luh-COUNT) is a town in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is part of the Alexandria, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,366 at the 2000 census. Shreveport attorney Jackson B. Davis, who served in the Louisiana State Senate from 1956–1980, was born near Lecompte. One of Davis's state Senate colleagues, Cecil R. Blair of Rapides Parish, who served from 1960–1964 and 1966–1976, resided and operated a business in Lecompte.
