Bolton High School (Louisiana)

Bolton High School is a secondary educational institution located in the Garden District of Alexandria, the seat of Rapides Parish and the largest city in central Louisiana. The school is named for its benefactor, James W. Bolton (1869–1936), an Alexandria banker who was one of the most prominent civic and political leaders of central Louisiana during the first third of the 20th century.

Lecompte, Louisiana

Lecompte (pronounced luh-COUNT) is a town in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is part of the Alexandria, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,366 at the 2000 census. Shreveport attorney Jackson B. Davis, who served in the Louisiana State Senate from 1956–1980, was born near Lecompte. One of Davis's state Senate colleagues, Cecil R. Blair of Rapides Parish, who served from 1960–1964 and 1966–1976, resided and operated a business in Lecompte.

Marksville, Louisiana

Marksville is a city in and the parish seat of Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 5,702 at the 2010 census, an increase of 165 over the 2000 tabulation of 5,537. It is 43 percent African American. Louisiana's first land-based casino, Paragon Casino Resort, opened in Marksville in June 1994. It is operated by the Tunica-Biloxi tribe.

Mansura is home to the Cochon de Lait Festival, and is the Cochon de Lait Capital of the world. Legendary Avoyelles Parish Sheriff F.O. "Potch" Didier died in 2007 in a nursing home in Mansura at the age of eighty-seven.
