Cushing Island, Maine

Cushing Island, or Cushing's Island, is a privately owned island in Casco Bay in the U.S. state of Maine. Part of the city of Portland, Maine, roughly 45 families live there seasonally. In 1623-24 English explorer Christopher Levett built a blockhouse on the island, part of 6,000 acres granted him by the English King. Levett left behind a group of settlers to carry on after he returned to England. But the naval captain and adventurer never returned, and the fate of the men is unknown.

Portland Fish Pier

The Portland Fish Pier is a fishing pier located in Portland, Maine on the edge of the Fore River. It is a major hub for the commercial fishing industry, and is home to the Portland Fish Exchange, where over 20 million pounds (9,000 tonnes) of seafood a year are bought and sold. A fishermen's memorial is also located at the Pier. Due to the heavy commercial fishing industry presence, there is no ferry service at the Portland Fish Pier.

South Portland High School

South Portland High School is a secondary school located in South Portland, Maine. The current building was erected in 1952, with a gymnasium added in 1958, an annex in 1962, and an auditorium and cafeteria in 1997. http://renewsphs. org/13/the-brief-history-of-south-portland-high-school/ The building that had previously housed the high school became Mahoney Middle School.
