East Freetown is one of two villages in the town of Freetown, Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. Added to the town in 1747, East Freetown was originally an outpost settlement of Tiverton, Rhode Island, then a part of Massachusetts. It rests on the shore of Long Pond.

Acushnet River
The Acushnet River is the largest river, 8.6 miles long, flowing into Buzzards Bay in southeastern Massachusetts, in the United States. The name "Acushnet" comes from the Wampanoag or Algonquian word, "Cushnea", meaning "as far as the waters", a word that was used by the original owners of the land in describing the extent of the parcel they intended to sell to the English settlers from the nearby Plimouth colony.

Freetown Elementary School opened in 1950 and serves grammar school students from the town of Freetown, Massachusetts. It educates around 546 students in grades PK-4 as part of the Freetown & Lakeville Public Schools. As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 542 students and 34.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 15.6. 96% of students are Caucasian. The school has a chorus that performs in an annual Winter Holiday Concert in December.
