SS City of Columbus

The passenger steamer City of Columbus ran aground on Devil’s Bridge off the Gay Head Cliffs in Aquinnah, Massachusetts, USA in January 1884. She was owned by Boston & Savannah Steamship Co. and was built in 1878. She was an early iron steamer with a tonnage of 2,200. She drew 26 feet and had a length of 275’ and Beam of 26’. Vineyard Sound

Vineyard Sound is the stretch of the Atlantic Ocean which separates the Elizabeth Islands and the southwestern part of Cape Cod from the island of Martha's Vineyard, offshore from the state of Massachusetts in the USA. To the west, it joins Rhode Island Sound and on its eastern end it connects to Nantucket Sound. Vineyard Sound holds some of the largest Summer Flounder in Massachusetts.
