Huron Swamp

The Huron Swamp is a heavily forested wetland located in Springfield Township, in Michigan's Oakland County. It is nine miles (15 kilometers) northwest of the city of Pontiac. It is part of the local Indian Springs Metropark, which is then a component of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system. Big Lake is to the northwest. The Huron River originates within the Huron Swamp.

Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan

Highland Charter Township is a charter township of north Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 19,202 at the 2010 census. Highland is a suburb of Detroit. Highland Township was founded by pioneer families in 1835. A major factor in the development of Highland was the railroad, which allowed lumber to be transported cheaply, and allowed pickles from the township's early factories to be exported easily.

Shiawassee River

The Shiawassee River in the U.S. state of Michigan is 120 miles long and generally flows in a northerly direction. It merges with the Flint River, the Cass River and the Tittabawassee River to form the Saginaw River, which drains into the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron.

Indian Springs Metropark

Indian Springs Metropark is a park in the Huron-Clinton system of metro parks in the US state of Michigan. The headwaters of the Huron River lie within its boundaries. The park encompasses 2,215 acres and is located 9 miles northwest of Pontiac. Much of the park is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the natural environment.
