Hay Creek (Mississippi River)
Hay Creek is a small trout stream in southeastern Minnesota. It has its headwaters west of Goodhue, and empties into the Mississippi River just upstream of Red Wing. It runs 25.1 miles, over half of which is a Minnesota designated trout stream. Like the Vermillion River, Hay Creek receives extensive fishing pressure due to its proximity to Minneapolis–St. Paul.

Lock and Dam No. 3
Lock and Dam No. 3 is a lock and dam located near Red Wing, Minnesota on the Upper Mississippi River around river mile 796.9. It was constructed and placed in operation July 1938. The site underwent major rehabilitation from 1988 through 1991. The dam consists of concrete 365 feet long with 4 roller gates and more than 2,000 feet of earth embankment with a series of upstream spot dikes. The lock is 110 feet wide by 600 feet long.

Cannon River (Minnesota)
The Cannon River flows 112 miles from Shields Lake near Faribault, Minnesota to Red Wing in the U.S. state of Minnesota, where it joins the Mississippi River. It drains a watershed approximately 1460 square miles (3,780 km²) in size. The Cannon River has few rapids, but some can be difficult (Class II). Some have claimed lives, as has the confluence with the Little Cannon River in Cannon Falls.

A plaque on the building states, "The construction of this building began in 1904 following an agreement in which the city of Red Wing provided trackage concessions and the railroad agreed to construct this depot and donate money toward construction of Levee Park.
