Rosedale, Mississippi

Rosedale is a city in Bolivar County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,414 at the 2000 census. It is the same "Rosedale" that bluesman Robert Johnson referenced in his song "Traveling Riverside Blues. " Locals claim that Johnson sold his soul to the Devil at the intersection of Mississippi state highways 1 and 8, on the south end of town, and that he tells this story metaphorically in "Cross Road Blues".

Great River Road State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is located off Mississippi Highway 1 near Rosedale. It is named after the Great River Road. Situated inside the Mississippi River levee and bordered by the majestic river on its western edge, Great River Road State Park offers magnificent views of the ‘Father of Waters’ from a setting unmatched in natural beauty.

Napoleon, Arkansas

Napoleon is a ghost town in Desha County, Arkansas, United States, near the confluence of the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers. Once the county seat of Desha County, Napoleon was flooded in 1874 when the banks of the Mississippi River burst through and destroyed the once-thriving river port town. In 1852, Bolivar County, Mississippi, established its county seat, "Wellington," nearly opposite Napoleon, Arkansas, on the east bank of the Mississippi River.

Bolivar County, Mississippi

Bolivar County is a county located in the Mississippi Delta region of the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2010, the population was 34,145. It is named in honor of Simón Bolívar, leader of the liberation of several South American countries from Spain in the early 19th century. Its county seats are Rosedale and Cleveland. The Cleveland Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Bolivar County.
