Holly Springs, Mississippi

Holly Springs is a city in Marshall County, Mississippi, United States. Near the Mississippi Delta, the area was developed as cotton plantations, which depended on slave labor. After the American Civil War, many freedmen worked as sharecroppers and tenant farmers. As the county seat, the city is a center of trade and court sessions. The population was 7,957 at the 2000 census. A slight decrease in population was calculated in the 2010 census. Holly Springs is the county seat of Marshall County.

Marshall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. In 2010, the population was 37,144. Its county seat is Holly Springs. Marshall County is named for Chief Justice of the United States John Marshall. Marshall County is part of the Memphis, TN–MS–AR Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Hudsonville, Mississippi

Hudsonville is an unincorporated community in Marshall County, Mississippi. It is located in the hill country of north Mississippi. The Mississippi Central Railroad runs through Hudsonville. Hudsonville was located along the “Wet Weather Trail” which followed a series of ridges between present-day Pontotoc and Memphis. This route enabled Indians and early pioneers to avoid dangerous river crossings and swamps during periods of wet weather.
