New Houlka is a town in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, which includes the older settlement of "old Houlka", the oldest white settlement in the county, established in 1812 at the intersection of the Natchez Trace and Gaines Trace, approximately one mile from the Chickasaw Indian Agency. Houston, Mississippi

Houston is a city in and one of two county seats of Chickasaw County, Mississippi. The population was 3,623 at the 2010 census. The land on which Houston resides was donated to the city by Judge Joel Pinson on the condition that it would be named for Sam Houston, a childhood friend. In 1909, Houston become home to the first Carnegie library in the state after L.B. Reid, then-superintendent of schools, wrote to Andrew Carnegie telling of the need for a public library.

Chickasaw County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2010, the population was 17,392. Its county seats are Houston and Okolona. Chickasaw county is named for the Chickasaw people, who lived in this area for hundreds of years. Most were removed to Indian Territory in the 1830s, but some remained and became citizens of the state and United States.
