Xenia, Missouri

Xenia, Missouri is a former town in Nodaway County about four miles northeast the current town of Pickering. The town moved to Pickering when it was bypassed by the railroad. It was named for Xenia, Ohio, and ceased to exist in the 1870s. A small sign now marks the spot where the town was. There was a small civil war skirmish fought in Xenia between units of Union Iowa Calvary and Confederates from southern Nodaway County.

Mozingo Lake Golf Course

The Mozingo Lake Golf Course is a 7,137 yard long, 18-hole municipal golf course on the banks of Mozingo Lake in Nodaway County, Missouri. The course was designed by Donald Sechrest and opened in 1995. It is a par 72 course and has a rating of 73.5 and a slope rating of 134 on Rye grass. It is owned by the city of Maryville, Missouri. According to the city website, Golf Digest and USA Today call it the "best course to play in the state of Missouri for under $50. "http://www. maryville.

Mozingo Lake

Mozingo Lake is a 1,006 acres reservoir in Nodaway County, Missouri on the Mozingo Creek branch of the One Hundred and Two River. The reservoir is owned by the city of Maryville, Missouri and is the city's water source and operates as a 3,000 acre (12 km²) park with 26 miles of shoreline. The reservoir was completed in 1994. Water overflowed its dam in the Great Flood of 1993.
