Buchanan County is a county located in Northwest Missouri. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the population was 89,201. Its county seat is St. Joseph. When originally formed in 1838, the county was named Roberts County, after settler Hiram Roberts; it was renamed in 1839 for James Buchanan, then a U.S. Senator and later President of the United States. Faucett is an unincorporated community in southern Buchanan County, Missouri. It is located sixteen miles north of Platte City on Interstate 29/U.S. Route 71. The community is part of the St. Joseph, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. It derives its name from Robert Faucett, who was a local miller when the Chicago Great Western Railroad established the community in 1890.
