Swiss is a populated place in Gasconade County, Missouri, United States. Its elevation is 906 feet . Swiss is little more than a "wide spot" on Missouri Highway 19. Swiss is located roughly 12 miles south of Hermann, Missouri. Hermann is a regional tourist attraction and supplies many of Swiss' visitors. The leading employer in Swiss, Missouri is Swiss Meat & Sausage Co. Founded in 1969, the company claims to employ about one dozen full-time workers and eight part-time workers.

Hermann AVA
The Hermann AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Gasconade County, Missouri, and entirely contained within the larger Ozark Mountain AVA. The wine appellation is located on the southern side of the Missouri River near the town of Hermann, about halfway between St. Louis and Jefferson City. The AVA covers the northern-most hills of the Ozark Plateau with many of the 200 acres (80 hectares) of vineyards planted along hillside locations.

Gasconade Bridge train disaster
The Gasconade Bridge train disaster was a rail accident at Gasconade, Missouri on November 1, 1855. At the time of the disaster, the Pacific Railroad was being built west from St. Louis toward the Pacific Ocean. It had been completed to Jefferson City, 125 miles to the west. On November 1 on a day of rain, an inaugural train carrying some 600 invited visitors and dignitaries, set out from St. Louis.

Gasconade County is a county located in east central Missouri in the United States. The county is located on the south side of the Missouri River, which once served as the chief route of transportation in the state. Located in the area known as the Missouri Rhineland, the county had a population of 15,222 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. The county seat is Hermann. The county was named after the Gasconade River.

Gasconade, Missouri
Gasconade is a city in Gasconade County, Missouri, United States, at the confluence of the Missouri and Gasconade Rivers. It was the first county seat, but the designation was moved in 1825 to Bartonville after flooding. (The county seat was moved twice more, finally to Hermann in 1842. ) The population was 223 at the 2010 census.
