North Platte High School (Nebraska)
North Platte High School is a public secondary school in North Platte, Nebraska. In 2001, the football team went to the 2001 Nebraska State Championship, but lost 28-14. North Platte competes in Class A, the highest classification of the Nebraska School Activities Association. It is the westernmost of the 32 Class A schools and thus faces extremely long trips throughout the season, since the next closest Class A school is Kearney High School, 95 miles east on Interstate 80.

Union Pacific 3977 or UP 3977 is a 4-6-6-4 steam locomotive originally owned by Union Pacific Railroad. Its counterpart, Union Pacific 3985, is the largest operating steam locomotive in the world. 3977 was donated to the City of North Platte, Nebraska for display on October 19, 1968. It is on display in Cody Park, next to EMD DDA40X #6922.
