Box Butte Dam

Box Butte Dam (National ID # NE01069) is a dam in the arid northwestern panhandle area of Dawes County, Nebraska. The earthen dam was constructed from 1941 through 1946 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation with a structural height of 87 feet and 5508 feet long at its crest. It impounds the Niobrara River for flood control, part of the Bureau's Mirage Flats Project for irrigation water storage. No hydroelectric power is produced here.

Box Butte County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of 2010, the population was 11,308. Its county seat is Alliance. In the Nebraska license plate system, Box Butte County is represented by the prefix 65 (it had the sixty-fifth-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922).

KDUH-TV Mast Hemingford

The KDUH-TV Mast was a 599 meter high guyed mast built in 1969 for TV transmitting at Hemingford, Nebraska in the US, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:42|10|21|N|103|13|59|W|region:US-NE_type:landmark |primary |name= }}. The tower broadcasted KDUH-TV of Scottsbluff, a semi-satellite of Rapid City, South Dakota-based KOTA-TV. The tower collapsed on September 24, 2002 during reconstruction work. Two tower workers, Lawrence A. Sukalec, 59, of Valier, Illinois, and Daniel E.

Belmont Tunnel (Nebraska)

The Belmont Tunnel is a 698-foot long railway tunnel near the ghost town of Belmont about halfway between Crawford and Marsland, Nebraska, in western Dawes County. It was built by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in 1888-1889 and was used regularly until it was bypassed in 1982. It is the only railway tunnel ever constructed in Nebraska.
