Netcong lies on the shores of Lake Musconetcong.

Lake Hopatcong (NJT station)
Lake Hopatcong Station is a New Jersey Transit station in the Landing section of Roxbury Township, New Jersey. It sits at the intersection of Landing Road and Lakeside Boulevard (County Routes 631 and 602), about 600 feet southwest of the southern tip of Lake Hopatcong. Today, the station consists of low-level asphalt platforms on either side of the tracks, with a shelter on the Hackettstown-bound platform and 96 free parking spaces.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 3,610, reflecting an increase of 26 (+0.7%) from the 3,584 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 191 (+5.6%) from the 3,393 counted in the 1990 Census. Stanhope was formed by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1904, from portions of Byram Township.
