Grindstone Island

Grindstone Island is the fourth largest of the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River and the second largest American island. The island lies near Lake Ontario and is part of the United States of America. In particular, the island is in the Town of Clayton in Jefferson County, New York. It consists mainly of abandoned farmland and 45% of it is protected by TILT, the Thousand Island Land Trust.

Murray Isle

Murray Isle is an island in the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River in the U.S. state of New York. The island lies in the Town of Clayton, near its border with the Town of Orleans, in the northern part of Jefferson County. Today Murray Isle is the site of many summer cottages. While the record is unclear, it is believed that the first cottage on Murray Isle was built in 1860. The structure, a simple log cabin, was owned by Daniel Sherman.

A.E. Vickery

A.E. Vickery was a wooden three masted schooner built in 1861 and measured 136.2 ft. x 26.2 ft. x 10.8 ft. The boat was launched in July 1861 at Three Mile Bay, New York as J.B. Penfield, and under that name sailed through the Welland Canal coming from Detroit to Oswego, New York. It was renamed A.E.

Canoe Point and Picnic Point State Park is on Grindstone Island in the St. Lawrence River. This park in within the bounds of the Town of Clayton in Jefferson County, New York. The park is only accessible by boat. The park offers a nature trail picnic tables and pavilions, cabins, dockage, fishing, hiking, seasonal waterfowl hunting, picnic tables, and a campground with tent sites.
