Owl Creek, North Carolina

Owl Creek is an unincorporated community in Cherokee County, North Carolina, United States, ten miles northwest of Murphy. It was named by a family of Cherokee Indians who lived in the area, named uguku (owl). They lost their land to the United States during Indian Removal. Their family members still live in the surrounding counties.

WPTP-LP

WPTP-LP was a radio station based in Marble, North Carolina, a small community in the western part of the state in Cherokee County, between Murphy and Andrews. The station was owned by the Emmanuel Baptist Church. WPTP broadcast Old Time Gospel Music and Christian-related programming 24 hours a day, such as Harvest Time Radio Broadcast with Dr. Stinnett Ballew, and Looking unto Jesus with Dr. Clarence Sexton. WKRK is a radio station broadcasting a Classic Country format in addition to Southern Gospel music. Licensed to Murphy, North Carolina; it has been owned by the Radford family since July 20, 1995 and features the Classic Country format from Dial Global, a popular tradio show called PartyLine and Associated Press Radio News. The music format and station name is "Country GOLD!" WKRK's daytime signal reaches Western North Carolina, North Georgia, and East Tennessee.
