Kituwa

The Cherokee believe the ancient settlement of Kituwa (also spelled Kituwah, Keetoowah, Kittowa, and other similar variations) or giduwa, on the Tuckasegee River is their original settlement and is one of the "seven mother towns" in the Southeast. It is in Swain County, North Carolina, in the Great Smoky Mountains, near present-day Bryson City.

Swain County, North Carolina

Swain County is a county located in the western portion of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 12,968. Its county seat is Bryson City. Swain County is home of the Nantahala River. The Nantahala is one of the most popular whitewater rafting rivers in the nation. In 2010, it was announced that the Nantahala River would host the 2013 World Freestyle Kayaking Championships The Oconaluftee River also flows through Swain County in the town of Cherokee.

WBHN

WBHN is a radio station broadcasting live on a Southern Gospel/ Christian Format. Licensed to Bryson City, North Carolina, USA, the station is currently owned by Lighthouse Broadcasting. The station first signed on in October 1967 as "The Voice of the Great Smokeys. " For most of the time, it stayed on a Country Format. In the 1990s, it took on the slogan "The Mighty 90.. 1590!" In the late 1990s, it was changed to a classic rock format with the hits from the 1980s and 1990s.
